Netflix has dropped The Woman in Cabin 10, a chilling psychological thriller based on Ruth Ware’s bestselling novel. Directed by Simon Stone (The Dig) and co-written with Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse (Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins), the film reimagines Ware’s gripping mystery for a new audience.
Journalist Lo Blacklock (Keira Knightley) boards a luxury yacht for a travel assignment but soon witnesses what she believes is a murder — a passenger thrown overboard in the dead of night. When everyone insists all guests are accounted for, Lo’s credibility unravels. Determined to uncover the truth, she risks everything to prove what she saw.
Ware says the story’s themes remain timeless: “The fear of not being believed is perennial,” she explains. “At its core, it’s about a woman who speaks the truth but isn’t taken seriously — something too many people can relate to.”
Joining Knightley is an ensemble cast that includes Guy Pearce, Hannah Waddingham, David Ajala, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Kaya Scodelario, David Morrissey, and Pippa Bennett-Warner.
Ware expressed her excitement about the adaptation, calling it “a surreal joy” to see her words brought to life. “It takes a whole town to make a film,” she shared. “Seeing characters I imagined years ago walk and talk on set feels like a superpower.”
The Woman in Cabin 10 is now streaming exclusively on Netflix.
